What it is
Eight doubles into an accent: two full beats of sixteenth-note roll landing on the downbeat. The longest of the numbered rolls.
How to practise it
- It is two nine stroke rolls sharing an accent. Practise them that way.
- At speed this becomes a closed buzz roll. Keep it open until the doubles are honest.
- Start where every stroke is deliberate, around 60–80 BPM, and only speed up when it feels boring. When it is clean, take it to the tempo trainer and let trainer mode climb from where you are.
