Seven Stroke Roll
Three doubles, one accent. Traditionally same lead every time.

Big letter = full stroke · filled = accent. Notation reads as on a practice-pad sheet: accents marked >, slashed small notes are grace notes, z on the stem is a buzz. R rings higher than L, so you can hear the hands.

What it is
Three doubles into an accent. Traditionally played with the same lead every time, though many drummers alternate it. It fills the space of a triplet or a half-beat, depending on how it is written.
How to practise it
- Feel it as "one-and-a, two-and-a, ACCENT".
- Try both same-hand lead and alternating lead; each lands differently on the kit.
- Start where every stroke is deliberate, around 60–80 BPM, and only speed up when it feels boring. When it is clean, take it to the tempo trainer and let trainer mode climb from where you are.
