What it is
Seven doubles into an accent, nearly two full beats of roll. A concert-snare staple, and a real endurance test for the weaker hand.
How to practise it
- Practise it as a nine stroke roll and a five stroke roll joined together.
- Relax the shoulders. Long rolls tighten up from the top down.
- Start where every stroke is deliberate, around 60–80 BPM, and only speed up when it feels boring. When it is clean, take it to the tempo trainer and let trainer mode climb from where you are.
