Remo Heads
Remo invented the modern drum head in 1957 — Ambassadors, Emperors and Powerstrokes are on more kits than any other gear in our Rig Vault.
When Remo Belli started coating Mylar in 1957, he changed drumming more than any shell or cymbal ever has: the synthetic drum head made drums stable, affordable and consistent, and the heads he designed are still the defaults. The Coated Ambassador is the reference snare head, the Emperor adds a ply for toms that need durability and depth, and the Powerstroke practically defines the modern kick drum sound.
That ubiquity shows up in our data: Remo is the most widely played brand in the entire Rig Vault, appearing on more documented rigs than any drum, cymbal or stick maker. From Bonham's CS Black Dots to today's touring pros, the heads below link to exactly who plays each one, era by era.
