Steve Jordan

Documented by Drum Faster

Keith Richards' drummer since 1986, John Mayer's for a decade, a producer for four decades, and the Rolling Stones' drummer since 2021. A heavy, unhurried backbeat and a hi-hat played like a rhythm guitar. Yamaha Club Custom shells and a stick built for touch rather than power.

2023 — Hackney Diamonds

The Rolling Stones' first album of new material in eighteen years, and his first as their drummer after Charlie Watts' death in 2021. He has used Gretsch kits with the band for a vintage aesthetic that suits the material, alongside his Yamaha rig.

2006 — The Continuum years

Playing on and co-producing John Mayer's Continuum, which sounds the way it does largely because of him. Yamaha Club Custom is a kapur-shell kit: warm, mid-focused, and deliberately not a modern bright rock sound.
