Travis Barker

Documented by Chris @ Drum Faster

Blink-182's tattooed engine and pop-punk's most influential drummer — marching-band chops at hardcore tempos, played shirtless and standing up as often as not. Twenty-five years of kits documented below: the Ludwig he learned on, the Orange County Drum & Percussion customs he part-owned and turned into a visual signature, and the DW era he's in now. Same DNA throughout — short stack, everything angled dead flat, cymbals low and fast.

2023 — ONE MORE TIME... tour

The stadium reunion run, and the fullest documented version of the current rig: DW throughout, brilliant-finish Zildjians led by 15" Mastersound hats and a 23" Sweet ride, an SPD for the hip-hop segues, and the riser that still flips him vertical mid-song.

2022 — The DW candy-cane kit

Fully endorsed by Drum Workshop by now. The red-and-white striped custom — the "EDGING" video kit — is the most photographed DW he owns: a compact four-piece with a black nickel over brass snare in the middle of the stack.

2016 — California & Nine — the Skiba years

Matt Skiba's first blink record. OCDP was long gone as Travis knew it, so his live kits were custom acrylics built by two of the original OCDP master builders — Daniel Jensen and Jeremy Berman at Q Drum Co — with Drum Lite LED strips inside the shells. Clear and amber acrylic on some runs, black-and-white wrap on others.

2001 — Take Off Your Pants and Jacket era

The famous Tri-Band Glass Glitter OCDP: red, white and blue bands round the shells and a square 20"x20" kick with twin front ports. In the studio the band tracked on a Pork Pie tobacco sunburst kit brought in by drum tech Mike Fasano. Pictured is an OCDP glass glitter kit in the layout Travis ran through these years — kick, single rack tom, twin floor toms, main snare, and cymbals set low and flat.

1998 — Joining blink-182

1996 — Feeble & The Aquabats

Before blink: SoCal ska-punk, marching-band drumline chops, and a hand-me-down kit. The piccolo snare was a deliberate choice — a whip-crack in the high register was the only thing that would cut through a horn section.
