Zildjian A Custom
Bright, glassy and refined — the A Custom range is the modern rock standard, developed with Vinnie Colaiuta in the early 90s.
Zildjian developed the A Custom range with Vinnie Colaiuta in the early 1990s, taking the classic bright A sound and refining it: thinner weights, a brilliant finish and a striking-hammer process that adds shimmer without harshness. The result is a cymbal family that cuts through a loud mix while staying musical — which is why A Customs became the default choice for a generation of rock, pop and fusion drummers.
The 14" hi-hats and 18"–19" crashes are the range's calling cards, and our Rig Vault data backs that up: A Customs appear across more documented rigs than any other Zildjian series. Below, every A Custom in the vault, who plays it, and where to buy — with reader reviews on each item's page.
