Scott Travis

Documented by Drum Faster

Judas Priest's drummer since 1989 and the first American to join the band. He arrived with the "Painkiller" intro and has not let up since — even, balanced double bass, two-hour sets, and Paiste cymbals every night since May 1987.

2024 — Invincible Shield

The current era, and a rare example of a metal drummer going smaller: after years on 23" kicks he moved back down to 22". Beier have also built him snares alongside the DW models.

2008 — The Nostradamus tour switch

The year his shells changed mid-tour: Tama until 2008, a Pearl kit on the first leg of the Nostradamus run, then DW on the second. He has been a DW player since. Cymbals, as ever, unchanged.

1990 — Painkiller

His debut with Priest, and the record that turned a traditional heavy metal band into a speed metal one. Travis was a Tama artist through this period, with Paiste cymbals — an endorsement he had already held since 1987 and has never left.
