2024 — The bathtub
It really is what it looks like. A builder's bucket gives three usable sounds — the top rim, the side wall and the base — and everything else has to come from placement and accent, because there are no dynamics to speak of and no sustain. The bathroom is doing real work too: a hard-surfaced enclosed space is a natural reverb chamber, which is much of why the videos sound as good as they do.
