Sonor Benny Greb Signature Snare 2.0 | The green machine is back

Great news for snare lovers. Sonor has reintroduced the Benny Greb Signature Snare as the 2.0 — and it is a proper upgrade, not just a reissue.

The size stays at that magic 13” x 5.75” that made the original such a favourite. The beech version now features a beautiful Scandinavian birch outer, and there is a brass version available if you want a bit more crack.

The clever bit is inside

The headline feature is the new Twin MonoRail dampening system. You get two dampening arms inside the drum — one with a standard felt to calm things right down, and one with sheep wool for a much lighter touch.

Combine the two arms with different tunings and you have got a frankly silly number of snare sounds in one drum. Wide open and ringing, completely controlled, or anywhere in between. It is the same philosophy as the original — one snare, endless options — just executed even better.
