Paiste has been making gongs in Switzerland for decades and is, by common consent, the best in the world at it. The symphonic range is the one drummers know: hand-hammered discs from 20" up to sizes that need their own truck, tuned to a shimmering wash that builds slowly and takes an age to decay. A big gong is not really a cymbal. It is closer to weather.
